Last year was my best year by far. With more wins, better results and a lower stroke average, the work I did last winter paid off. I’m continuing to work with Steve Blacklee at Surrey Downs Golf Academy.
This year, I’m going to be playing in the biggest amateur events, hoping for success. Having become an invited player into the full England setup has boosted my confidence, and hopefully I can take that into the season.
Unfortunately my season has not got off to the best of starts after spraining my knee in an accident after the West of Ireland tournament. This has led to me having to withdraw from several events. I returned to the West of England Championship too early, which aggravated the injury, resulting in my withdrawal from the Lytham Trophy.
Returning to competitive golf at the South East Links Championship I
narrowly missed the cut when a good round at Royal St. Georges was
followed by a vey poor one at Royal Cinque Ports.
A top 10 finish in the Welsh Open, as a result of 3 sub-70 rounds, has
shown that I am getting back to form. This form continued at the end of May,
with 4 rounds in the 60's, giving me the runner-up position in the
Lagonda Trophy and winning the Sundridge Park Club Championship.
